Description This is a leveling course of tightly laid wadi/field stones and small boulders, set without mortar. Comparative levels taken from east to west across the exposed stratum indicate that it was very evenly set, with a mean variance of less than 0.03 m. The locus is assigned to Stage 4 because of the apparent care taken to achieve this leveling (cf. Locus 24 above), which suggests it was placed in preparation for the support of the W CP East floor pavers (Tr. 97, 2004, Locus 25). Two special finds were recovered from the top surface of the stratum: a possible coin/nail head (SF-5, Seq. No. SP105023) and a definite coin (SF-10, Seq. No. SP105046).
