Description | Locus 3 is a thick fill layer of roughly-hewn boulders and large stones, laid flat. It is homogenous in nature and seems to have been laid as fill for the terrace of the Temple Forecourt (small hexagonal pavers). There is relatively little artifactual material, considering the size of the locus, and it does not extend north or west beyond the Retaining Walls (Loci 4 and 15). The soil matrix is a coarse and sandy, color 5YR 5/6 (yellowish red). |
