Description Limestone floor pavers preserved in the north east corner of the Hypocaust Chamber. This extant flooring consists of a single row of 4 north south pavers found in situ. The pavers are finely dressed and join without evidence of mortar in the seams. The pavers are laid, however, in a thick layer of grayish mortar which makes up part of the Locus 11B Subflooring. Evidence from the excavation of the preserved section of the Suspended Floor (Locus 13) in the west area of the chamber suggests that this pavement would have originally been surmounted by a layer of marble/opus sectile.
