Definition	Suspended Floor
Description	A preserved portion of the Suspended Floor in the Hypocaust Chamber. It consists of the same type of subflooring described as Loci 11A-11B, but also retains some of its limestone pavers and marble/opus sectile finishing (which came loose during excavation). The composite structure thus consisted of 3-4 alternating layers of terracotta tiles and gray mortar, which was surmounted by the broken limestone pavers and marble/opus sectile. Toward the south side of the preserved section part of the Locus 4 collapsed superstructure from Wall Locus 2 is still visible embedded in the floor. As a result of this collapse damage, the suspended floor is broken in the middle and slumps inward slightly from both sides. At the north east corner of the section, where the suspended floor abuts the Canalization Flue Locus 23, a carved limestone volute from a Petra Great Temple capital was found wedged between the floor and the top opening of the flue. This element collapsed into Tr. 126 during excavation was removed to the sculpture gallery in the West Cryptoporticus East.
