Phase V
Stage Description Construction of the Theatron.
Description A sandy loose strong brown (Munsell 7.5 YR 5/6) deposit which is used for the construction of the terracing of the Theatron area. The ceramic evidence suggests Phase 1 plain ware from this locus and the remains of the painted sherds look to be Schmidt 2c-3a. The best evidence will be the coin recovered at B-2.00 or 905.092 m in front of Locus 4 and 0.60 m from the west edge of the sondage. This coin should produce an accurate terminus post quem for the construction of the orchestra. Additionally, several small column half-column drums of the same diameter were recovered suggesting this area was filled during a redesign.
