Description A hard packed course sand sub-floor that provides a foundation for the pavement to adhere to. It is comprised of two layers: a thick red layer (Munsell 2.5 YR 4/6) and a .02 m reddish brown layer underneath (Munsell 5 YR 4/4) which is clearly a different layer but has the same consistency and inclusions of small pebbles. I have assigned it as the same layer since the discoloration of the soil could be the result of the soil from the layer below adhering to the mud when it was laid.
