Description | Locus 19 is a bedding of coarse, compacted, sandy soil of color 7.5YR 4/6 (strong brown) with pebbles, cobbles, slabs of limestone and sandstone, bits of charcoal and plaster. It supports the curbstone (Locus 20), which is damaged and robbed-out in many areas. South of the curbstone and north of the foundation for the Retaining Wall (Locus 21), a gap runs above Locus 19 which was probably filled by the lead pipe (Locus 13) or some other canalization feature. There has been no excavation under this locus. |
