Definition | Soil Locus in Center of Trench |
Stage Description | Later sedimentation and fill. |
Description | This locus comprises of the main sediment layer at the highest level of the trench. It measured 4.90 m north south-by-1.66 m east west. It was in contact will all four walls of the trench (Loci 2, 3, 4, 5), and had a Munsell Color of 5YR 4/4 or Reddish Brown. It contained large amounts of debris, and a mixed range of pottery and bones, all indicative of a sediment or wash-down layer. It was a mix of sand, soil, and pebble to medium and large stone. Distribution of artifacts was random, however, the two special finds are particularly noteworthy. One was a small intact ceramic bowl, and the other was a small, green, incised ceramic bead. |
