Description | Locus 8 represents the vaulted arch sloping down from the south to the north that covered the room in antiquity. All that remains of the vault are six in situ arch stones, five on the West Wall (Locus 4) and one on the East Wall (Locus 3). Two other in situ arch blocks, one arch stone and one voussoir, fell off Locus 3 during the course of excavation; (see sequence numbers 55077 and 55079). A number of arch stones were also found in Locus 1, which represents both Stages 2 and 3. |
