Stage Description | Construction of the East Vaulted Chamber. |
Description | Locus 3, which measures 4.75 m in length, is a wall constructed of sandstone ashlars. The top course consists of wedge-shaped ashlars used to support the arch stones of the vault. The wall also contains the door (Locus 5) and the window (Locus 6). The wall is extremely battered with a number of missing stones. Compared to the other three walls (Loci 2, 4, 7), it seems to be the wall that sustained the most damage in the destruction stage. There is also a reused cornice or other architectural feature present in the second preserved course in the south of the wall. |
