Description A soil deposit beneath the preserved section of the Suspended Floor (Locus 13). The materials in the deposit were of mixed consistencies and colors. It contained soils ranging from clay-sized to granular. The soils were also of different color ranges: 10 YR 4/2 (Dark Grayish Brown)–3/2 (Very Dark Grayish Brown) and 5 YR 6/3 (Light Reddish Brown)–5/3 (Reddish Brown). The deposit was mounded, both inside Vault Locus 18 as well as in the open area south of the vaults: its greatest depth was near the opening at the east, from where it sloped to a shallower depth toward the enclosed west side. The east side of the deposit also contained a number of architectural fragments. The shape of the deposit, as well as the admixture of soils, suggests the deposit resulted from two deposition processes: collapse followed by alluvial action. A small amount of pottery and glass were recovered during the excavation, along with a single bronze pendant.
