A pick pass was done across the central area of the trench. Work commenced with hand picks to loosen the compacted earth around Stumps C D E F and G. Stump C was removed, along with the western half of Stump F. Half of Stump D was also removed, at which point the loose dirt created by the removals was cleared and the boundary area between CB 56 and CB 57 brought down to a flat level. Loose dirt across the entire trench scattered by stump removal was cleared in preparation for a pick pass across the northern metre and the south east area.

After the pick pass in the south east was completed, it was observed that soil in this area of a slightly darker grey brown which forms clay like lumps was beginning to appear, particularly in the area around stump G. This soil type will be explored further when the stump is removed, unless it becomes clear during removal that the soil is established and not simply a by- product of the moisture retained by the root systems of Stumps F and G.

A pick pass across the central northern area of the trench from east to west was done and the debris cleared. Roots were clipped and the next metre to the south was picked. After picking up the debris, the northern boundary with CB 53 was brought down to level. The day ended with combined work on the baulk walls and clearing soil around Stumps F and G, which seem to be inter-connected.
