DAILY LOG
A.M./P.M. 22 July 2013
Excavation continued in locus 11 . Most of the day was spent removing stumps, but a pick-pass was made across the entire locus lowering it approximately 3 cm. Approximately 1/4 bowl (16 cm. in diameter/8 cm. in depth) of small well-worn terracotta fragments was recovered. Six sherds of pottery were found. The soil that was picked was sorted into buckets. Locus 11 was closed, and closing co-ordinate depths were measured.
Closing Co-ordinates of locus 11:
NW (69-E/41-S): 89 cm. below datum point = 26.89 m. above absolute elevation.
NE (71-E/41-S): 82 cm. below datum point = 26.96 m. above absolute elevation.
SE (71-E/44-S): 96 cm. below datum point = 26.82 m. above absolute elevation.
SW (69-E/44-S): 100 cm. below datum point = 26.78 m. above absolute elevation.
The SE co-ordinate depth measurement is made on the NW corner of the section of soil left around the base of the tree in the SE corner.
Special Finds:
1. Locus 11 Approximately 69.6-E/43.3-S Approximately 26.85 m. above absolute elevation Iron Slag
