Locus 12 was opened this morning. The opening co-ordinates are identical to the closing co-ordinates of locus 11 (including depths). Photos were taken. The soil is yellowish-brown with some fist-size and smaller stones. The excavation of this locus was with pick and sorting into buckets with every third bucket sifted. Locus 12 was closed late in the morning since the number of fist-size and smaller stones has greatly diminished. Locus 13 was declared. The opening co-ordinates are identical to the closing co-ordinates of locus 12 (including depths).
Closing Co-ordinates of locus 12:
NW (69-E/41-S): 89 cm. below datum point = 26.89 m. above absolute elevation.
NE (71-E/41-S): 84 cm. below datum point = 26.94 m. above absolute elevation.
SE (71-E/44-S): 102 cm. below datum point = 26.76 m. above absolute elevation.
SW (69-E/44-S): 105 cm. below datum point = 26.73 m. above absolute elevation.
The SE co-ordinate depth measurement is made on the NW corner of the section

The soil of locus 13 is yellowish-brown. After co-ordinate depth measurements and photos were taken the locus began to be excavated. The pick was used, and sorting was done into buckets with every third bucket sifted.
In locus 12 approximately 1/3 bowl (16 cm. in diameter/8 cm. in depth) of small well-worn fragments of terracotta was recovered. Approximately 1/5 latte-box of pottery sherds was found. Four pottery sherds and eight very small fragments of terracotta were found in the sifted buckets. Two pieces of iron slag were made bulk finds.
