Description This is an ash lense found in Locus 1. It extended east from the east face of the blockage (Locus 11) in the west vault (Tr. 97 2004 Locus 14), as well as toward the north. Its consistency was that of very fine clay or silt, with a Munsell Color of 7.5 YR 5/1 (Gray). It was not as compacted as the Locus 1 fill surrounding it. Part of this locus underlies the area of the missing paver described in the Trench 97 2004 Final Report. However, the fact that it extended beneath in situ pavers at an approximate depth of 0.10 m inside the Locus 1 fill, suggests that it represents a dumping event contemporary with the same stage as Locus 1. No artifacts were found in the lense.
