Description | Locus 8 is a layer of preserved stucco/plaster around the column (Locus 2). It stands on the stylobate (Locus 10) and underlies the rubble layer which sits above it (Locus 4) and the ash layer which had seeped through around the column. It borders the wall (Locus 11), the mortar found surrounding it (Locus 5), which had preserved it, and the column. Only a quarter of it remains. The rest has deteriorated or fallen away. There were many pieces of plaster found in the Locus 4 rubble layer and Locus 3 ash layer. |
