General remarks | This wall diagonally comes out of the NW corner of trench. It has been partially removed last year and the remaining part to the NW corner of the trench was demolished by a worker (in 25 minutes) who had no excavation experience before. However, the ongoing excavations in this part of the trench showed that at least the very NW portion of the wall continues further down. The east side of it is unclear due to the mixture of mud from L.5207 and animal burrows. Brick size is not clear in each case but the first ones in the west are: 70x50x10(?) cm. This locus is open because its bottom until the depth of 586.10 m. has not been confirmed this season. |

Has note | Contexts excavated in trenches were recorded using the "locus system." A locus is any discrete three-dimensional entity excavated in a trench. The key to the locus system is the recognition that a locus is any one thing. Differences in soil composition or texture are therefore as important as, for example, the difference between a pit and a wall. If two entities were distinct, they were considered separate loci and were therefore assigned separate locus numbers. It should also be noted that every context excavated in a trench was given a locus number and thus the trench itself is made up completely of excavated loci. |
