Phase Description | Phase IV: Nabataean Grand Design: 1st c. BCE to CE 1st c. The remainder of the subterranean canalization is... |
Description | A stone wall on a north south axis, extending from the southernmost extent of the bedrock cut of the cistern to the south (interior) face of the south wall (Locus 10) of the cistern. It seems to be a support element built in conjunction with the cisterns south wall, and creates two separate niches behind the arches of the south wall. On its west face is a break in its plaster coating through which can be seen the underlying stone construction. The stones are far apart, suggesting that it is of relatively poor construction (much like the south wall) and relied on plaster for much of its sturdiness. |

Definition | North south wall separating niches behind south wall arches of cistern |
