Stage Description | Stage platform added. |
Phase | VII |
Description | Roughly built staircase in the Pierre Anta cut (see Locus 45, above), made up of three steps and terminating in the pulpitum floor. It extends east west and leads from the East Corridor; there would have been a staircase leading from the floor to the bottom of the cut, which would have been approximately 0.80 m below, but there is no remaining evidence of such a construction. The treads are of sandstone, and sandstone cobbles mortared together; there is no evidence of bedding, but no treads were removed to examine the materials beneath, so its not certain that no bedding existsmore exploration will have to be done in this area and under the pulpitum stage. |
