Description | A Munsell 7.5 YR 5/4 (Brown), compacted layer, of small volume, filling the cut in the Pierre Anta to a height of approximately 0.05 m, covering the roughly built staircase of the late itinera versurarum (see Loci 45, 66 above). It was relatively free of inclusions, and had little artifactual material. On the other hand, an almost whole pottery form and a coin were recovered from this locus, which might be helpful for dating. Note that this locus is assigned to Phase IV because it is hard packed and occurs just above the architecture; however, it could well be later (i.e., after the reuse phases)a comparison of the material from this locus and locus 6 should indicate whether or not they are contemporary. |
