Work began with pickpasses in the two northernmost meters of locus 2 and digging with handpicks and trowels in the rest of the locus. The stonecapping in the southern part of the locus was defined and the baulk walls were cleaned up. There were a fair amount of terracotta found (more than one bowl) and all of it seems to be ancient).
PM
The stone feature in the southern part of locus 2 was declared locus 3 and was stringed off.
Openings elevations, locus 3 :
- A: 1,64 m b.d. 29,90 m AE
- B: 1,74 m b.d. 29,80 m AE
- C: 1,81 m b.d. 29,73 m AE
- D: 1,91 m b.d. 29,63, m AE
- E: 1,67 m b.d. 29,87 m AE
- F: 1,62 m b.d. 29,92 m AE
- G: 1,74 m b.d. 29,80 m AE
- H: 1,60 m b.d. 29,94 m AE
The soil remains dark brown but has less roots than the overlaying locus 2 . We removed the stones in the western half of locus 3 .
