After removing a stump in the F-29 grid, work continued in A-B/28-30 where earth was removed in order to uncover any remains of a retaining wall upon which the north wall of the north extension may have been built.

At a depth of 1.5 meters from the surface, the soil consists of a small rock pack intermixed with some tile fragments.  Pottery frags are very infrequent.  They heavy rock packing which may have fallen over from the north extension retaining wall lies now in grids D-G/28-30.  In A-B/28-30, this packing has not been encountered.

At present, an irregular inclined wall of large stones is being uncovered

under the foundation of the N. extension wall in the Tesoro grids P/28-30.

Photos were taken of the trench looking up the slope and from above looking down (see ).

Work continued in grid A/28-30 with the excavated depth now 90 cm beneath the top of the northern wall of the northern extension.  Bits of greyware pottery and a cover tile fragment were discovered close to the northern extension wall.  A bucchero fineware fragment was found as well as a greyware foot in section A-30.  The soil at this level contains pieces of carbon and bone.

The stratigraphy reveals an upper layer of accumulated soil light brown in color and mixed with bits of light stone ( ).  A dark brown strip of soil separates the light brown soil from a medium brown soil also packed with stones and tile fragments.
