A.M.

R/55 was brought down to the level of T-22.  This cut produced one half a latte box of assorted pottery and little tile and plaster.  One piece of incised orangeware was found.

Rock and tile pack in L/55-R/56 was cleaned further.  Rocks exist on top of one another with no soil between them for roughly 30 cm.  At present, they begin at the 120 cm level; they may begin lower.  Interestingly enough, the tiles which rest on and near these rocks are all located on the eastern side of the rock pack.

I/54-56, the southern end of T-22, was brought down to the 140 cm mark.  This cut makes most of T-22 uniform in depth.  J was also brought to this level.  Over one tall latte box of pottery, mostly coarseware, was filled.  A few pieces of painted pottery were also found.  L-K/54-56 began to reveal heavy concentration of plaster at ~130 cm.  Earth here is rich, brown, and more moist than that of I-J, which is hard and yellow at this level.

P.M.

Continued uncovering rock line, especially south (Q-R).  Found more tile laying on rocks as well as some pottery.  Left to be photographed by C. Williams tomorrow.

Also finished bringing Q-R/54-56 down to T-22 level.  Same type of finds, i.e. various fabric pottery (nothing very fine).  Some bronze (#12) found near line.

140 cm cut brought further south to N limit of T-26 original cuts (L/54-56) where rock line abruptly ends, ~K-L/54-56 (especially 56) soil changed to easier picking, drier, and filled with plaster over wetter, pottery-bearing soil.  Some sandy, yellow soil found in K/54, oddly.

Found ~1 cassetta of tile, few pithos fragments, and 1 cassetta of plaster, including reed-impressed pieces.  3 latte boxes of pottery like past days' from this cut.  Some glass found also (#13).
