Trench 1C

An extention 2 x 9m made to the E of trench 1B is called trench 1C. The strata continue without change in this trench, and the S part of the trench the D stratum is extremely evident- very high pink/oragnge. As in trench 1B, the area N of the wall is still unexplained; the same stones were found covered by a very few tiles and the E stratum was again evasive. In the S part of the trench again some stones were left which seemd to have some order to them. Also the South Tile Stratum is again scanty as in1B and here again possibly due to the trees prowing there whose roots might have disturbed the tile bed.

Some frieze pieces were uncovered in the area S of the wall as in IB.
