The day began with work using hand picks to break down the barrier formed between CB 56 and CB 57. After this, a pick pass was done in the north east corner. Another was done in the south west metre and both were cleaned up. The central area with then picked in order to connect all the passes into one covering the whole trench. After this, the northern metre was picked again, and the whole trench followed in being picked and trowelled. While on the first pick pass across the entire area a half bowl of terracotta and a single piece of pottery were found, on the second pass much less material was present.
As a result of a combination of stump removals and slightly uneven picking, the trench is somewhat pock-marked. To rectify this, it was decided to proceed with hand picks and trowels, working southwards from the north wall to level the trench.

The final remains of Stump D were removed, as well as stump E. Work continued using hand picks to lower the trench in a controlled manner. During this second pass of the trench with hand picks another half bowl of terracotta was found, alongside a single piece of creamware. The day ended with baulk walling and root clipping to tidy the trench.
