Description | The East Anta Doorway located on the north extension of Wall Locus 3, is unique to the building motifs of the Nabataeans.[1] From the door post stones this larger door appears to be part of the initial construction design of the Temple allowing access to the upper Pronaos area from the East Corridor on the east side of the building. The southern door posts are not in as good a state of preservation as those in the west wall Locus 2, prior to the removal of Trench 12's balk. The Northern door post system needs to be reevaluated as well since it will suffer the winter rains. There was a reduction in the size of the doorway to 1.66 m as in Locus 16, Trench 8, 1994, to limit access to the East Anta. |
