Description | Locus 2 consists of two limestone capstones over the canal. Although other capstones were found broken and collapsed into the canal, these were the only two exposed, intact and undamaged capstones in the trench. It appears that they were re-used, as they both had cornice molding on one side. This molding is not related to their secondary function as capstones because the molding surface of each capstone faced a different direction. The capstones may have functioned originally as cornice stones. Each was 0.12 m thick. |
Definition | Two limestone capstones covering eastern canal. |
