Description | The arch springer course of the exposed east face of the middle cryptoporticus wall of the East Colonnade. There were three springers exposed between the south balk and the later north blocking wall (see Stage 2 below). Unlike the wall on which it sits (Locus 5), the springers are well cut and diagonally dressed. All three are preserved in Trench 82, and subdatum point F is set on top of the top block of the middle springer. The blocks to either side of each springer are roughly cut and laid with chinking. |
