Description Locus 2 spanned the entirety of the original part of the trench. Soil was heavy in roots and organic matter. It was clay like and grainier in texture. The soil was medium brown and much lighter in color than the the soil in Locus 1. The tree stump was still present in Locus 2 which made the soil in its immediate surroundings was darker in color due to the underlying root system. Locus 2 had terra cotta that were fingernail to palm sized. Locus 2, however, had a higher quantity of terra cotta and pottery compared to the previous locus. There was a modern tack found in this locus which solidified the fact that Locus 2 was not a contextual layer.
