Description | This soil color is a 7.5 YR 4/6 (Strong Brown). Soil and rubble fill between the south and north pulpitum walls; this fill supports the stage floor which is still preserved on parts of the eastern side of the pulpitum (see below). Also mixed in with the fill are material remains like pottery and architectural fragments, including column drum fragments, moldings, and bases. The total width of this fill is 2.58 m. Very little of this bedding/fill was not excavated this season; in areas where pavers still seal it the fill should be removed in future seasons in order to recover material remains for dating. |
