Bottom (m) | Closing Elevation: Same as the foundation or 0.14 m below the pavement or 892.511 m. |
Description | This floor pavement of well-set white sandstone pavers consists of 13 rows of pavers, which extend from the south balk to the Locus 13 step. The only anomaly is the fact that one paver is missing (see Locus 14). There is no way to estimate the former size of this pavement except to postulate that it once covered the PW west and north of Trench 81 as well as further west into Trench 87. Of interest was to ascertain if this pavement lies at the same elevation as the pavement excavated in Trench 79 2001. We posited it may possibly be of the same flooring but it lies at a 1.28 m difference in elevation, which probably precludes that it is the same flooring, unless steps are found to connect the two elevations. |
