Description This sandstone wall must have served as a socle for the baths superstructure. Its condition is sturdy, but it is uneven in surface because its upper levels of hewn sandstone ashlars were plastered and its lower levels were constantly exposed to heat and exhibit massive amounts of plaster and inclusions. It is two rows in thickness and is on the north is eight-to-ten courses in height, in the south it is five good courses in height, on the east it shares its rows with the south side of the apsidal structure of the praefurnium and the doorway located here as well, Locus 22; and on the west it is seven–to nine courses in height, but the ashlars have been highly compromised because of repeated burnings. The upper course of this wall was plastered in antiquity. The bath system seems to have been planned as a single unit and it appears that it is on the same axis of orientation as the Great Temple, northwest to southeast. This locus along with others of the bath complex appears to be self-contained elements in an overall design that physically distinguish different areas of the baths.
