Description Locus 5 spanned the entirety of the original part of the trench. This locus contains large fragments of tile as well as large pieces of terra cotta. Pottery quantity decreased significantly in this layer and is much less frequently found than in Locus 4. The soil is compact and brittle when broken apart and contains traces of blueish-grey coloring. Within this locus as well, bone is found in the baulk walls closest to this locus’s elevation. In general however, the amount of physical material is very low, and the number of tile fragments have increased slightly, all of which are Archaic.
