Relations | Built up to: Locus 2. |
Description | This blocking wall is constructed of small to medium sandstone ashlars that are diagonally dressed on those faces facing outward into the Southern Passageway. The wall is preserved to 12 courses at a height of 4.27 m and extends the full width (1.68 m) and depth (1.18 m) of the doorway. On the inner (northern) face of the wall, the stones are roughly hewn with no sign of dressing or plastering. In the upper courses of the southern face of the wall, a vertical cut circa 0.18 m wide and preserved to a height of 0.96 m is present. Presumably, this cut angled outward from the south creating a larger opening on the walls northern face, as is the case of the central blocked doorway which has a similar thin cut on its southern face. However, such an angled cut was not clearly identified. |
