Stage Stage 5
Description The floor surface extended throughout the trench, composed of small sandstone pieces and a hard packed cement-like fill. The surface was level and similar in construction technique to the sub floor in the west and south corridor of the Temple. The Cavea wall is laid on top of this surface but no remains of this floor surface was recovered in Special Project 200 2005 underneath the orchestra floor. Indeed the orchestra floor is at 905.543 while Locus 12 is at 905.203 at a significantly lower level. Locus 12 could be a foundation surface for the Cavea surface but this seems architecturally unlikely. It is likely a surface previous to the Cavea wall and the Theatron is used as a foundation for this structure when the purpose of the structure changed.
