Description | The construction technique utilized two ashlars laid as headers at the top of the instillation on four courses of regularly laid ashlar construction in the east, while only three in the west. Where the piece joins with the east west water canal, the bottom course is composed of smaller stones. The back of the construction is obscured by hydraulic stucco. Additionally on the east, a block protrudes half way down into the shaft narrowing the opening to 0.13 m. In order to access the instillation Locus 25 was dismantled. Whether Locus 8 and 14 are coeveal or integral to the construction cannot be determined. It is possible the instillation was intended to be a seepage spring to accommodate water build-up from the bedrock below. |
