Description | This is a layer of Munsell yellow (2.5YR 6/4), 8.25 m-x-3.36 m, compact soil with small stones. The yellow pigmentation of this layer may indicate that there are deteriorating frescoes on the inside of Wall Locus 2, and this color has combined with the soil and collapsed outside of the building. The artifacts found in this locus included two iron nails, bones and pottery fragments consisting of rims, bases, and body sherds with black, off-white, red, green and brown painting, slips and washes, and there was one Byzantine lamp discus. Pottery inclusions, 29038, were fragments of a lamp (96-L-25), as well as plates, bowls, large storage vessels, jugs, roof tiles and cooking pots. Bone inclusions, 29042, were six fragments of camel and goat. |
