Description Locus 6 extended across the entirety of the northern and western extension of the trench, excluding a small triangular area in the southwest corner of the extension, where a dirt road lies, and was comprised of a yellowish brown, medium-colored soil that was also claylike in texture. The surface of the locus sloped downward from north to south. As the locus progressed in depth, soil progressively became slightly mottled, with limestone, terracotta, and carbon inclusions, but the soil remained the same basic color and consistency throughout. Locus 6 also contained some small rocks and carbon patches throughout. A fair amount of material was recovered from within the locus, including relatively high quantities of tile, pottery, and slag. All materials recovered appear ancient in date, indicating that Locus 6 is a contextualized, stratified deposit. Furthermore, materials were better preserved the deeper in the locus they were recovered. A curvilinear rock feature composed of mostly medium-sized stones, running roughly east-west across the trench, appeared at the bottom of the locus. Locus 6 is equivalent to Locus 2 in the original part of the trench.
