Stage Description | Construction of the West Staircase and Lower Temenos Retaining wall. |
Description | Locus 4 is a sandstone, north-south, east stairway wall, the counterpart of Locus 6, which forms the east boundary of the staircase complex. It is not as badly weathered as Locus 6 (perhaps it was not exposed to the elements as long?) and is preserved to perhaps 6 m above the Hexagonal Pavement (Locus 18). It is also better understood because it bonds with (and essentially equals) Locus 15, the East-West Retaining Wall and the sub-structures of Locus 15 (namely, the foundation wall, Locus 21). |

Bottom (m) | Closing depth: 899.116 m at north; unknown at center and south. |
