Description Locus 9 is a carved, smoothed limestone threshold that bounds the west side of the landing pavers, and allows access to the first room of the Propylaeum West. It appears to be set on dirt, along with the pavers (Locus 1), however there is a mortar layer between it and the walls that rest upon it. Its position, height and construction indicate that it was built along with the landing and the earlier steps in the same stage of construction.
