Work continued this morning in L/14-15 and J-K/2-3, L/3-4. Operations in L/14-15 consisted of tapering the existing cut northwards and terminating just before the line of the M grid. In this area, small fragments of fireze plaque, bucchero sherds and fragments of Ionic pottery were found directly above the burn layer (dark grey
soil).
L-2 was excavated to a short depth with the purpose of seeing if the heavy rock packing of L-3 and L-4 continued into that grid from the east. However, all that was found were a concentration fo smaller stones, whose locations were drawn [ see opposite page 117 ]. It was then decided to lift away the large rock packing of L/3-4, and excavation was begun on this area.
J/2-3 were excavated, yielding heavy amounts of bucchero and impasto, and especially statue fragments immediately below the yellow level. I/2-3 levelled down.
A northward, 2m wide cut was begun into M/11-12.

In the afternoon, M/11-12 and K-L/3-4 were taken down to just above the burn layer; only a few sporadic sherds were found in these areas.
The western side of J-2 was finished down with hammers to reveal what appears to be a well-defined wall, collapsing westward into J-1; this wall runs south to north, and apparently continues into K-2 [
