Work delayed in the morning due to overnight downpours. When excavation resumed, soil still damp but safe to excavate. First pick pass done in the southern three meter by one meter strip. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, remains consistent with Locus 2 soil. A second pick pass done in the northern three meter by one meter area. In the northeast corner hitting what appears to be a large solid rock, possibly eve an bedrock shelf. Area will be troweled to investigate the extent of the rock. Rest of the soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, remaining consistent with Locus 2 . Some terra cotta being found, including a relatively large fragment of cover tile. Little amounts of pottery found. The artifact finding rates appear consistent with yesterday. Continuing to pick in the northern meter to reveal more of the large rock, as well as troweling done around it. Soil sorted and
cleaned from the trench. Terra cotta still being recovered, but only small amounts of pottery. Picking done in the southern three meter by one meter. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, remains consistent with Locus 2 . The rock does not extend over the whole area of the trench and currently has defined edges, though it may be a higher outcropping of rock. The dirt around it will continued to be removed in order to investigate. Roots clipped.

Pick pass made in the southern three meter by one meter area. Soil seems more loosely packed, but otherwise consistent with Locus 2 . Terra cotta being found, but little frequency of pottery. Rock not appearing in the southern meter apart from seven centimeter to fifteen centimeter stones. Pick pass done in the northern three meter by one meter area. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, consistent with Locus 2 soil. Terra cotta being found in smaller quantities,
But more ceramic being found, especially impasto sherds. Picking continued to be done in the southern meter. May be coming upon another large stone in the southwestern corner, to be investigated when the soil is cleaned and sorted. Soil consistent with Locus 2 . Continuing to drop the trench with pick passing and sorting. As yet no more evidence of similar large rocks or the other rock extending. Pick pass done in the northern meter by three meter strip.
