Civitate B7
The trench was taken down 0.25 - 0.35m to galestra or bedrock. About 5 pieces of worn tile were found close to the surface.
Civitate B8
About 15m to the west of B7 a trench 0.50 X 6.50, on a E-W axis, was excavated down 0.25-0.35m to galestra. Near the deeper eastern end, an isolated rock was found. No tiles.
Civitate B9
About 20 meters to the south of B8, on a N-S axis, a trench 0.60 X 7.00m was excavated to a depth of 0.25m to shaly, yellow soil. The top stratum of soil, below the topsoil, contained heavy carbon deposits. Near the north end a small deposit of "salt" rock was discovered. Two small worn tiles were found on the surface.
Civitate B10
About one meter to the north of B9 and on the same axis (N-S) as B9, a trench, 0.50 X 11.00m, was excavated to a depth of 0.30m to galestra. At the south end, the carbon deposit of B9 continued to a depth of 0.10m. About 10 small, worn pieces of tile were found near the surface.
Civitate B11
To the west of and on the same axis (E-W) as B8, a trench, 0.60 X 8.00m, was begun. The topsoil was removed and four pieces of surface tile were found.
