A bull-dozer was employed this Sat. morning to remove the upper slope of the North Terrace in grids approx. A-M/1-27. The purpose of this excavation was to expose portions of the north slope of the North Terrace which, as our trench has shown, possess an extensive and durable rock packing.
The result of this cut was the removal of the slope in grids C-F/1-27. Fragments discovered during this operation included numerous pan-tile and occasional pottery pieces.
The final cut of the day required a trench cut into the already exposed soil of the North Terrace in grids F-G/27-6. This manuver revealed the top of the loose rock packing first discovered on June 15th. This cut also showed the loose rock packing extending in an east/west orientation for approx. 21 m.
* Finds for the day have been designated A-M/1-27 owing to the difficulty of determining their true location during bull dozing.
