The hole in E-F/28-30 was widened to the end of the G grid. At this point the loose rock fill ended and a burn section running the length of grids 28-30 was excavated. This burn area was approx. 70 cm high and 6-8 inches deep. Numerous Greek pottery sherds were contained here.
The burn ended against large rocks similar to the bedrock in the D grids. The soil between the rocks is dark red, but contains no pottery or carbon.
Work continued in the fossa in one attempt to find its bottom.
