Trench 1A
Ttrench 1 was extended by 2m to the East and was named trench 1A. As expected the strata were the same and the wall and N and S tiles also continued.
In the S of the trench some circular stones appear, some what in line with similar stones found S of Trench 1. Stratum D continues in S.
In Trench 1A South of the wall and partially curbing to the wall appear to be some dark purple earth some what similar to that of stratum D. The area covered appears to be circular, and perhaps this is where a post hole was at one time- the dark earth being the decay of wood. The color change has not yet been fully examined.
Numerous frieze and cornice pieces have been uncovered in Trench 1A in Stratum B over the north trees and also in the north tile stratum.
