Due to rain of the previous day there was no excavation in T 18 in the morning. In the afternoon one workman cleaned above N-S wall in grids J-L 28, while the other began excavating in the red layer in grid M 30. In this stratum the soil is a rich reddish-brown and is mixed wiht chunks of burned, reddish wall plaster. The majority of the pottery sherds in this stratum are burned, reddish bucchero; finds include a moulded handle (tree pattern), a piece of out-pressed tongue cup, a completer cup or bowl base, many rim fragmnets wiht double-guilloche pattern, and some very thin ware. All pottery finds from this stratum, designated the Red Layer, will be entered in JN II .
