4 cartons of pottery
7 boxes of tile
We continue to remove a layer of earth over teh burn layer ca-27 cm. deep and 42 to 69cm. from the top of the trench in the strip running north south just east of the strip removed just east of the north-south wall. We begin moving north from the last portion of M38-39 and reach ca. 80cm. down the soil here is a dark tan and of a granular, clayey consistency with chunks and bits of a harder, white material. A grea deal of tile is found scattered throughout including several fragments of frieze plaques. 4 boxes of pottery, mainly impasto and small courseware.
In J soil of the red-black burn layer is touched here too a bit of bronze emerges. The cut dips toward the north graxing the burn layer. Many small and some large stones throughout. A few fragments of yellowish and piknk plaster are found. Pottery is concentrated in grids L-M38-39, which yields a full carton, while L-G produce 3 cartons. Some bucchero, oragnce and gray ware may be added to the more plentiful impasto moted above.

We complete the clearing of this mornings cut to the north reaching the end of F38-39 and exposing the east and north walls of the trench in grids 38-39 F-O to a depth of 25-30cm., just reaching, or just over the burn layer below. Tile continues to around and frieze plaque (#16) to occur, also antefix fragments (#5, #10. #12). Bronze slag and pottery continue in modest quantity.
Also begin removing the cut below the above one mentioned in grids O-N37-38, extending the cut made along the north-south wall to the south, and P37-38. here an uneven burn layer is encountered, especially in O-N, low in the cut with characteristic red-black siol. These cuts produced bronze slag, and small quantities of sometimes fine pottery, much charcoal, of which a sample is taken, and fragments of worked stone, ivory and wood. Also 1 box of tile . Bronze slag, also large lumps (#6,#8) and fragmentary nails (#19)
Also begin full exposure of rock fall in grids N-P33-34 where a 1/2 carton of pottery emerges and continues removing a large pot in N33 where a rochetto (#21, p. ) is found.
