Soil is still very damp and saturated. To allow the trench time to dry further, baulk walls were trimmed in the morning. Terracotta was placed in a latte and pottery was placed in a separate latte box. The roots attached to the stump along the southern baulk were defined so the baulk wall surrounding it could be trimmed. Soil was sorted into buckets and used a backfill for CB 43.

Soil is a little drier after being in the sun after lunch. A pick pass was done in the western third of the trench. It was a light pass because there appears to be a layer of rocks and terracotta fragments right underneath. Soil was sorted into buckets and dumped into CB 43 to be used as backfill. Rocks and large terracotta fragments
were defined with trowels. While sorting in the western third of the trench, the baulk walls in the rest of the trench were trimmed. Another pick pass was completed in the western half of the trench, lighter over the previously picked western third, and deeper in the middle third. The rock packing is more dense in the western third but the rocks in the middle third are loose and being removed. Soil is being sorted into buckets and dumped in CB 43 to be used as backfill. Terracotta is being collected in a latte and pottery in a separate latte. A pick pass was done in the eastern half of the trench. Soil is much more blue, the patches are coming up more frequently. The soil is beginning to have a fetted smell as well. Soil is being sorted into buckets and dumped into CB 43 as backfill. Terracotta is being sorted into latte boxes and
pottery is collected in another latte. While picking, an usual fragment of terracotta was found. (SF# 1).
