Notes on pottery concentration of L(M)/66-65: This concentration of orangeware ceramics, like those mentioned in books HDA I-II and N.M. II, has produced large amounts of incised pottery and several diagnostic sherds.  This concentration , at atleast as far as it is currently viible, seems to start roughly 10-20 cm. west of the K-L(M)/66 tile line area (see p. 83) but at a depth about 20 cm. below thetile line.  In an effort to determine the nature of this concentration, we are isolating each piece of pottery as it surfaces and then cleaning around it to about 20-25 cm. on each side.  In doing so , more pieces of cermaic surface, however, as yet, the pieces are not spread in any disernable pattern and only rarely join to other excarnated pieces from nearby areas.  Once each piece is isolated and viewed in its overall context, it will be removed and taken to the magazino for cleaning.

Mestilinas were used in meter L(M)/68 and parts of L(M)/67 in an attempt to define the area of this

pottery concentration.  Soil in these meters is a similar medium orangy brown with plaster and carbon inclusions, but as yet has revealed practically no pottery and no tile.  The extension of this cut into K/68 reveals the same soil type but with heavier concentrations of carbon and tile.

Excavation of K/65 revealed a slight change in thesoil in part of this meter.  At approximately the southern border of the meter, the soil shifts from the medium orangy-brown with plaster and carbon to a darker, non friable brown soil.  Practically no material of any kind was found in this soil.  However, the area about 35 cm. south of the northern baulk shifts to the medium orangy brown soil with plaster and carbon inclusions and produced pottery although not in high concentrations.  Small pockets of carbon have also been noted sporadically this area.  A large portion of worked antler was found directly beside the northern baulk of this meter roughly beside the tile line.(#11)

Photographs were taken of the tile line feature and the trench.
